Thirtieth and thirty-first drabbles for the doctorwho_100 challenge. I forgot to post them yesterday. But then I guess I've been a bit quiet on the drabble front for a while. Blame my exams. But now I'm back to my weekly(ish) updating! With two drabbles to make up for the gap :o)

“It’s not so unlikely, is it?”

Ace clears her throat and dodges the question. Hex can’t help but feel disappointed. He’s just a ‘little brother’ to her, and that’s all. He’s sitting there shirtless, and she’s worrying about his bruises and what the Doctor might think.

He really thought something might happen back there; when she moved close, voice low, he thought it was leading somewhere. Then she suggested a holiday in Croydon and the moment dissolved.

Her touch is gentle, but there’s only concern behind it, nothing deeper. It doesn’t half sting; and not just the cuts and bruises.

She doesn’t know what to say. He asks if she would leave with him, and it shocks her, shakes into wakefulness those thoughts that she’s been ignoring. She realises how much she wants him to stay, and it goes further beyond ‘kid brother’ than she’d like to admit. And if he doesn’t stay, what would she do?

She can’t answer him yet. She needs to think. So she lies, lets herself be angry that he’s thinking of leaving. Later, as she plays nurse, she hides her feelings, makes plans for Croydon, and curses herself for not knowing her own mind.

Thanks :o) I heard the audio and immediately sussed out my own theories on the two of them - I hadn't really shipped them before The Settling, but now I'm on the lookout for subtext *grins* I think I listened to that particular track about twenty times. That was fun :o)

Wheee! I love that scene in The Settling. Half of me wants to knock their heads together, the other half is having too much fun with Hex trying it on and getting turned down :) Yay for them.

Awww.... I do prefer the idea that Hex's crush only goes one-way, but I also like the idea that Ace wants him to stay and doesn't quite know why. These are both lovely.

my iTunes died on me before I could listen to it all, and it keeps losing part of it, so no more downloady for the moment :( but I heard some of it, and I have the general story. *adds to specific list of things to do* I think I'm a bit of a list whore...

Oh, these are lovely - the first is so heartbreaking, but perfectly in character, and the second makes me just want them to get together, damnit! I just finished The Settling, so, I'm feeling very Ace/Hex-y at the moment. :D
