I'm fairly new to the audios. I got my first one in January this year. (It was Gallifrey Series 1.) The first main-range I got was The Apocalypse Element... I only started really listening to them properly in July-ish.

Haha, fair enough. I think Nyssa (as has Peri; I've only listened to one Mel audio so far) has really blossomed in the audios. I loved Circular Time and the Brewster trilogy. Shame he didn't stick around, but his leaving really suited him. By the end of Time Reef, I adored him and then I listened to A Perfect World and sulked.

Hmm. The Apocalypse Element isn't a great one to start with. Very loud. So much so that I've heard it twice and that's my main memory. I can't really remember much past Romana, Daleks, retina-scan locks and "I say, aren't you an interesting colour!" from Evelyn. *rolls eyes at writer*

The audios give Mel the same treatment as Peri and Nyssa, maybe even more so. Few people seem to like Mel, but those who do are often audio fans. Which one have you heard? I really liked Flip Flop, because I listened to it one way round, and then left it for ages so I'd forget the story, then listened to it the other way round :oD The One Doctor and Bang-Bang-A-Boom! have got to be my favourites - they're so silly, and never fail to get me giggling. Also, The Fires of Vulcan is way better than The Fires of Pompeii. Historicals rock.

I've learned that since I've listened to more (and read fan opinion). I enjoyed some of the Romana bits though - most specifically when she is first introduced and is talking to Vrint. I find it almost heartbreaking actually. It's certainly not a favourite now, but I have a certain fondness due to my insane Romana Love.

I've only heard the Wishing Beast. I enjoyed it more once I'd heard the Vanity Box. I loved Mel though, she's probably going to become a favourite eventually. I'm looking forward to hearing more, definately. I'll take into account the One Doctor and Bang-Bang-A-Boom! when I next have money for audios...

I understand the fondness. I'm inordinately fond of Minuet in Hell, while everyone else hates it! It's because it was my first audio, and I adore one of the actresses in it for her other work (and so can forgive her atrocious accent!), and I still find it rather funny :o) Eight's excellent in it, and it has the Brig! The Brigadier makes all things better. I don't quite get why a lot of people can't see past the silliness and awful American accents to just enjoy it as a fun story. (Plus, it's almost impossible now for me not to see a four foot penguin in place of the main villain, as played by Robert Jezek.)

That was a really weird story :o) And I like the way it all comes round again in the end, once you've heard The Vanity Box. Definitely do that, they're the best kind of crack :oD

YAY Someone else who liked Minuet! It was very fun. I enjoyed it a lot more than Invaders From Mars, which followed it. It surprised me to find out there was a lot of hate for it.

That's what I liked about it. The sisters were also quite fun. who doesn't like crack?!

Oh yay! I'm not alone :oD Good to know.
I quite liked Invaders from Mars - I've never been very fond of gangster-type stories, though, so that was a turn-off, but I liked the wonky noir sort of atmosphere it had. Plus, clueless aliens. And Eight really got into the spirit of things, with his hopeless private eye patter. I loved it when he said that every once in a while he gets a full body makeover :oD
