Oh dear sweet Rassilon...

And that subject line is entirely appropriate, given, y'know.
Um... Aaaaaah!
Wait, you want coherence? Er...
Well,
sellars88 (Adam) feels like grabbing Rusty by the lapels and telling him very emphatically, "See, see what you can do without Daleks??" Because that was good. Oh yes.
The Rose-backstory-exposition fit, cos of Jack - obviously he needs the explanation, cos relieved!Jack made me smile so much :o) And hugging. So it's clearly not a bad thing. Martha seemed sulky for the wrong reasons though. I know she was getting sick of being compared to her predecessor, but all he was doing was mentioning her. With reason. Adam reckons it's because Jack's hot, and so here's another guy she likes who can talk about nothing but Rose. I agree.
Oh - the beginning. I did see this before today, and have been pissed off about it for a while... But if the materialisation noise and flashy light and wind blowing papers everywhere (at the end of Torchwood) could've been down to Jack's Doctor Detector (it's a hand in a jar, so I'm sceptical about the blowy papers and the noise - and given that we saw it glowing itself, the flashy light too), then I can find it within myself to ... well, ignore the beginning, really. Since I'm pissed off at Rusty for mucking about with onscreen events, and I'm pissed at the Doctor (even still after the later explanation) for leaving like that, and the Futureguys I can take or leave, really - I'm just going to ignore the pre-titles bit. It was the only not-good part of the episode.
Anyway. Jack's backstory. Eeeeee! I knew he'd landed much earlier than he meant to, I knew he'd lived more than 100 years, and I knew he'd done it with the equivalent of a space hopper when compared to the Doctor's 'sports car' (although, potential vs actual performance... *grins*) or he would've been able to do another, um, hop. That sounds so much funnier with the space hopper analogy :o)
Adam came up with "flash-Jacks" to describe the flashbacks into Jack's history in Torchwood (eg in 'Small Worlds'), and he probably wasn't the first :o) And "back-Jack" was Jack's backstory, in any form (including pre-Doctor). Talking about stuff we already know that has to do with Jack, which could be skipped if not for Martha and people who didn't see S1 (ie exposition), he termed "Jaxposition". It's spelt that way because to spell the 'Jack' part correctly would make it sound rather, um... Well, spell it out for yourself :o) Anyway, the point here is that Adam is adorable and geeky :oD This is confirmed by the fact that he's just drawn characters' faces on the pads of his fingers to act stuff out. (He wrote 'pout' under Martha, and I added a tie to Ten and a goatee to the Master - shut up, he's not right without the goatee.)
Aaaanyway. What else. Oh, indomitable! Without a doubt, my favourite single moment. Because I am an Old Skool Whovian. And also obsessive. And it brought back fond memories :o) I would've preferred if Ten could've been a little more 'in awe' and less 'happy puppy', but then he's Ten and not Four. They may be remarkably similar in some points, but Four was never this hyperactive. So, point: sometimes Rusty's fanwank is a marvellous thing :oD
Ten’s reason for leaving Jack behind... I liked it. It made sense, and does not make me hate him. I am glad :o) Also, Jack doesn’t seem as pissed off as I expected him to be. But that’s probably because Martha’s pretty hot, so he’s pacified.

Oh, "blogging"! He's been reading Martha's Myspace, I bet he has *grins*
I didn't suspect Jacobi at all, not at first. Once the watch came into it, I had a mad and hope-filled wish for him to be Chronotis. I knew the Master had to be around as well, because how could he not? I knew it from the second I saw Simm - I thought, that guy needs a goatee, and then it clicked. Of course, I work around a lot of newspapers, so the tabloids tipped me off too. I rarely pay attention to them, but their rumours for this tallied with my instincts, so I decided that they can occasionally be right. Very very occasionally. But it was obvious, really.
Anyway, Chronotis is too obscure for the new series. Unfortunately. Because Chronotis rocks. And is still drinking copious amounts of tea in Cambridge. Yes.
I didn’t realise Jacobi would regenerate. Technically, the Master has had far too many lives. He’d used them up before he was Ainley, which was why he had to steal Tremas’ body in the first place. But, since the Time Lords offered him a new regeneration cycle in ‘The Five Doctors’, Adam reckons it’s possible they offered him the same in return for coming back to fight in the Time War – and then he did a runner.
Although, he was eaten by the TARDIS in the movie. Hmm. He must’ve escaped at some point between the movie and the Time War, if Adam’s theory is to hold out. It’s possible. There’s a lot of uncovered ground. Even taking the books and/or audios into account.
Anyway, far too much speculation for just now. Must now go eat lots of sugar if we’re to maintain our high and not crash :o) Cannot wait for next week. It almost feels like Old Skool, this multi-parter with its more-than-two parts. There’s three of them! Surely it’s just a matter of time before we’re back to four-part serials? *hopeful face*

Date: 2007-06-16 09:17 pm (UTC)and someone somewhere said that you can see a figure running towards something in the last moments of torchwood ep13, so the TARDIS didn't land in the hub, maybe on top of it? so all is well.
and I loved the whole martha/jack, ten/jack, ten/rose, martha *hmph* rose, jack/rose, MASTER!!! dynamics. YAY.
*dances for the rest of her life*
story, no story, i don't care. That was EXCELLENT!
but why did Ten leave JAck behind? I didn't get that.
(did you see the confidential? clearly, my squeeyness over JB is utterly justified. XD)

Date: 2007-06-16 09:46 pm (UTC)(Just occurred to me, Jack was running from the main entrance, which means he couldn't use the invisible lift cos the TARDIS was on it - what would happen if he had just lowered the lift? *grins*)
Briefly: Ten left Jack behind because he is something that should not exist - but he does. It makes Ten uncomfortable. There have been many who wanted immortality, but the Doctor's always said they can't have it - not just cos he says so, but because they can't. Now Jack is immortal, but he shouldn't be. But cos it was the Vortex, he is. It's wrong, so I think Ten was just trying to ignore that fact, avoid him and leave him to his forever-life. Does that make any kind of sense?
And no, I don't watch the Confidentials, they tend to spoil the magic for me. But I'll take your word for it :o)
Now I must go eat food and birthday cake (before midnight or everything will be wrong) and watch the rest of Destiny of the Daleks with Adam, so enjoy your squeeing :o) *hugs*

Date: 2007-06-16 10:13 pm (UTC)That makes all the sense, but makes me sad too. Jack is lonelier than the Doctor? :(
Confidential was a bit "OMG, Barrowman is da best!" but not very big-headed at all. JB said nothing about himself, just that it was good to be back, and that Jack is up to his usual flirty ways, whilst everyone else went on about Jack/JB's presence and all the good times.
Both DT and JB (sorry, still mad with fangirlness, must abbreviate!) had flatulence apparently, which they were all laughing at! Little boys! :P
I'd kill (maybe not that far) to have been there with all the good times!I don't watch the Torchwood declassifieds for the same reason. Clearly great minds think alike. or very similarly at least :D
I don't think I will be able to sleep. just total guh and squee and LOVE and all things wondrous.
*flails*
Date: 2007-06-16 11:11 pm (UTC)I added a tie to Ten and a goatee to the Master - shut up, he's not right without the goatee.
I was a bit disappointed that he didn't have one =( But he /did/ have whiskers, so potential goatee-ness.
I thought the whole thing with Jacobi was really predictable, actually. Really early on when he kept going all weird i guessed he was a time lord minus memories, then my sis guessed he was the Master, then i guessed he'd regenerate into john simm, so...not really ZOMG TIME LORD/THE MASTER/REGENERATION! but still good =D
