As the messy-haired man in pinstripes slouches away down the corridor looking disappointed, the Doctor returns to his bench and resumes his tinkering.

“Doctor, who was that?”

“What? Oh, him. Just… an acquaintance of mine.” He scowls slightly.

“What did he want?”

The Doctor puts down his screwdriver. “He wanted to see you, actually. I told him it wouldn’t be the best idea, as he’s arrived several years too early.”

The Brigadier nods. “I see. So he’s one of your lot?”

“In a sense.” He smirks a little, and adds, “No doubt you’ll see him again in a few decades.”
