Twenty-ninth drabble for the doctorwho_100 challenge.
And now for canonical Martha! No more blank slates for a while. And while I use this icon for my drabbles, this is the first time it's been very specific to the subject of my posting :o)

This girl he keeps mentioning, she must have been someone special. Someone close to his heart - well, hearts, technically.

But, Martha muses as she drops off to sleep in 1599, she wasn't the only one. He said there’ve been more; friends who’ve travelled around with him. Shakespeare said his eyes were old - he’s probably ancient. Who knows how many dozens of people he’s travelled with, others he's regarded as special? There must be plenty of space in those two hearts to fit all those people.

Maybe even space for her, if she manages to stay longer than just one trip.

As much as I like blank-slate!companions, having an actual character to work from is indeed a good thing.

I think I've managed to get what she was probably thinking because inspiration struck during the episode and not afterwards. I even had to pause it and go write :o)
